Eliminate a common failure point on your 3.0 TDI Gen2 engine with this precision billet bypass valve delete.
This kit replaces the factory coolant bypass valve (OEM part numbers 059121737R / 059121737AM) and is fully compatible with both stock and deleted EGR cooler setups. Emissions compliance, including smog testing, remains unaffected.
Why Delete the Stock Valve?
The original bypass valve is a known weak point. It is prone to leaking past the shaft and cracking at the thin coolant barb. If the vacuum actuator fails, the valve can stick and contribute to overheating. The factory design also allows coolant in the cylinder block loop to run warmer than necessary, thinning the oil film on the cylinder walls.
By deleting the valve, coolant temperature in the block is regulated solely by the primary thermostat (approximately 90 °C). This results in more consistent cooling and a slightly thicker oil film for improved lubrication—while removing all of the stock part’s leak and failure points.
